Our Organization and Website
EpiNutrition.org is the website through which ProtectU45 Initiative Inc. delivers its nutrition education program. EpiNutrition is the program name; ProtectU45 Initiative Inc. is the nonprofit organization that operates it. The program advances the organization’s educational mission through free books, videos, and learning modules explaining how food affects health.
Our resources explore digestion, gut microbes, gene regulation, colon health, and muscle health, while helping readers distinguish biological explanations from evidence in people.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make nutrition literacy accessible to everyone—helping people understand how food interacts with the body, evaluate nutrition claims, and make informed choices.
Through free, science-based books, videos, and interactive tools, EpiNutrition connects the biology of food with everyday meals.
Our Founder
ProtectU45 Initiative Inc. was founded by Martin J. Coyne, MD, MMI, a board-certified internist and gastroenterologist whose career has centered on understanding the relationship between diet and disease and advancing the prevention of colorectal cancer.
Dr. Coyne’s research has included work on cholesterol metabolism and the role of gut bacteria in human health. His clinical career also included early work introducing colonoscopy for cancer screening at Cedars-Sinai in 1972 in collaboration with George Berci, MD. He graduated from Boston University School of Medicine, trained in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and earned a Master of Medical Informatics from Northwestern University.
Epinutrition.org is operated for educational and charitable purposes. Its resources are intended to complement—not replace—professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
