What is EpiNutrition?

EpiNutrition is an educational framework for understanding how nutrition may influence biological activity without changing the underlying DNA sequence.

Food provides more than calories and essential nutrients. Dietary components can be transformed by the gut microbiome and human metabolism into compounds that interact with cells. These interactions may influence energy production, cellular signaling, inflammation, epigenetic regulation, and gene activity.

Epigenetic regulation is one of several biological mechanisms through which nutrition may influence cellular activity and health.
